In Scotland there
are two single centre guided walking holidays:
- The North
West Highlands tours explore one of the last wilderness areas
in Europe from a base on the shores of Loch Maree
- Isle
of Skye This tour explores the dramatic scenery of one of
the most exciting islands in Scotland.
We also offer
guided hiking tours along the West
Highland Way. Beginning at Milngavie on the outskirts of Glasgow,
this famous trail heads north through spectacular scenery that becomes
more rugged with every step, to Fort William in the heart of the Scottish
Highlands.
Self-guided

We organise self-led
hiking tours along the:
- West
Highland Way
- St
Cuthbert's Way This delightful cross-border trail passes
through the peaceful countryside of the Scottish Borders to Holy Island
in Northumberland, England's Border County.
- Great
Glen Way
This new trail follows the great rift valley of the Great Glen
from Fort William on the west coast to Inverness on the east coast.
- Highland
Drovers Trail This magnificent walk from the Great Glen to
the Isle of Skye traces part of a 15th century cattle drovers
route across the Western Highlands, through some of the most dramatic
mountain and coastal scenery in Scotland.
North
of England
This area includes
the Lake District, Yorkshire Dales, North Pennines, Hadrian's Wall, Northumberland,
North York Moors and the Peak District.
Lake
District
Guided

In the Lake District
we offer single centre guiding walking holidays in two locations:
- Based in the peaceful
little village of Pooley Bridge on the shores of Ullswater the North
East Lake District tours explore the countryside around Ullswater
and Haweswater
- The North
West Lake District tours based in the bustling market town
of Keswick explore the valleys and mountains around Derwentwater,
Buttermere and Crummock Water.
We offer guided
hiking tours along the Coast to Coast Walk and the Cumbria Way.
- The Coast
to Coast Walk traverses the north of England through the Lake
District, the Yorkshire Dales and the North York Moors. This famous
trail is available in two sections. The dates have been arranged consecutively
so that the route can be walked in its entirety with a rest day in
the middle or in two separate stages. The western section traverses
the Lake District from St Bees on the west coast of the National Park
to Kirkby Stephen in the east.
- The Cumbria
Way passes through the heart of the Lake District from Ulverston
in the south to Carlisle in the north. Following paths along valleys
and old packhorse tracks over passes, this superb trail provides breathtaking
mountain views without actually going to any of the summits.
Self-guided
walking holidays
As well as self-led
hiking tours in the Lake District along the Cumbria Way and the Coast
to Coast Walk we also offer three short breaks in the Northern Lakes,
Central Lakes and Western Lakes:
- The Cumbria
Way traverses the Lake District from Ulverston in the south
to Carlisle in the north.
- The Coast
to Coast Walk is available in two sections. The western section
traverses the Lake District National Park from St Bees on the west
coast of the National Park to Kirkby Stephen in the east.
- Short
Breaks Starting and finishing in Keswick, the Northern Lakes
short break explores Borrowdale, Buttermere and the Newlands Valley.
The Central Lakes short break is a circular trail starting from Windermere
that visits Grasmere, Langdale, Coniston, Hawkeshead and Beatrix Potter's
former home at Near Sawrey. The Western Lakes tour explores the rugged
mountain scenery of Wasdale and the lush pastures, woodland and deeply
rural hamlets of Eskdale.
Yorkshire
Dales

Based in the attractive
little market town of Hawes the Yorkshire
Dales single centre guided tours explore Swaledale and Wensleydale,
the most northerly valleys in the Yorkshire Dales.
We offer guided
walking holidays along the Dales Way and the Coast to Coast Walk.
- Beginning at Ilkley on
the southern edge of the Yorkshire Dales, the Dales
Way goes through the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National
Park to end at Windermere in the Lake District.
- The Coast
to Coast Walk is available in two sections. The eastern section
traverses the Yorkshire Dales and North York Moors from Kirkby Stephen
on the western edge of the Dales to Robin Hood's Bay on the east coast.
Self-guided

In the Yorkshire
Dales we organise self-guided walking holidays along six trails. These
range in length from the Three Dales Way that explores Wharefedale, Littondale
and Malhamdale over three days, to the Tour of the Dales, which visits
every major valley in the Yorkshire Dales over eight days.
- The Herriot
Way is a circular tour through the Northern Yorkshire Dales
of Wensleydale and Swaledale, following in the footsteps of Yorkshire's
famous vet.
- The Three
Dales Way is a circular tour exploring the Southern Yorkshire
Dales of Wharfedale, Littondale and Malhamdale.
- The Dales
Way goes through the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National
Park to Windermere in the Lake District.
- A
Tour of the Dales is another circular tour that visits every
major valley in the Dales. As well as Wharefedale, Wensleydale, Swaledale,
Ribblesdale and Malhamdale it also visits the less well-known but
equally appealing dales of Littondale and Raydale.
- The eastern section of
the Coast to Coast Walk
traverses the Yorkshire Dales and North York Moors from Kirkby Stephen
on the western edge of the Dales to Robin Hood's Bay on the east coast.
- The Nidderdale
Way is a circular tour through one of the quietest valleys
in the Yorkshire Dales.
Hadrian's
Wall

Best
of Hadrian's Wall These single centre tours explore the best-preserved
and most dramatic sections of the Wall. The walks visit milecastles and
forts, turrets and temples, signal towers, an old quarry with inscriptions
carved by the Roman soldiers that built the wall, and a medieval castle
and priory built from stone plundered from the wall.
On Hadrian's
Wall Walk we hike along the Wall from Corbridge in the east to
Bowness-on-Solway on the west coast, stopping somewhere different each
night.
Self-guided
walking holidays
We offer a number
of options for self-guided walking holidays along Hadrian's
Wall
- The complete trail from
Wallsend on the east coast of England to Bowness-on-Solway on the
west coast.
- A shorter option omitting
the less-rewarding hiking through Newcastle at the start of the trail
and beyond Carlisle at the end.
- An even shorter alternative
that concentrates on the finest stretch of the Wall between Corbridge
and Brampton.
- A series of self-led hikes
along the best-preserved section of the wall from a single base. We
provide transport to the start of the walk each morning and collect
you at the end of each walk.
Eden
Valley
The Eden
Valley single centre guided tours explore one of Britain's best-kept
secrets. This hidden corner, surrounded by the magnificent fells of the
North Pennines and the mountains of the Lake District offers some of the
finest, most varied walking in the country.
Northumberland
The coastline
of the Scottish Borders and Northumberland is famous for its wild, unspoilt
beauty with miles of firm, expansive beaches of golden sand, quaint fishing
villages and spectacular castles perched on rocky headlands. Based in
the pretty village of Bamburgh, the Northumberland's
Coast guided
hiking tour explores this wonderful coastline from St Abbs in the north
to Warkworth in the south, visiting no fewer than five spectacular castles,
Lindisfarne, the Holy Island and the historic towns of Berwick and Warkworth.
There is also a self-guided Coastal
Castles option that explores this terrific coastline between Berwick
and Amble.

The Cleveland
Way is a horseshoe-shaped route around the edge of the North York
Moors National Park. Beginning in the old market town of Helmsley, the
trail follows the western escarpment of the North York moors to meet the
coast at Saltburn-by-the-Sea, and then follows the whole of the Heritage
Coastline to finish at Filey. The Cleveland Way is also available in two
sections; the moors section between Helmsley and Saltburn-by-the-Sea and
the Coast section from Saltburn-by-the-Sea to Filey.
The eastern section
of the Coast to Coast Walk
traverses the North York Moors National Park.

District
The White
Peak Way is a delightful self-guided walking tour through the
varied and spectacular scenery of Britain's most popular National Park.
South
of England
Guided

West of Cornwall tour explores the spectacular coastline of
the Land's End Peninsula. This part of Cornwall is characterised by
towering cliffs of weathered granite, rocky coves and golden beaches,

Ridgeway follows an ancient track established by prehistoric
man some 5,000 years ago that runs from Avebury in Wiltshire to Ivinghoe
Beacon in Buckinghamshire.
- Beginning in Chipping
Campden, the loveliest of all the Cotswold wool towns, the Cotswold
Way traverses the Cotswolds to finish in the historic city
of Bath

the Cotswold Villages Trail, which is a weeklong tour that seeks out
the timeless villages and towns that are among the loveliest feature
of the area, to the Cotswolds Highlights Tour that takes in the very

- Wild Edric was a Saxon
who resisted the attempts of William the Conquerer to tame the borderland
between the lowlands of England and mountainous Wales. Wild
Edric's Way meanders through the beautiful and varied scenery

hiking tours along:
Offa's
Dyke Path which stretches along the border between England
and Wales from Chepstow in the south to Prestatyn in the north. This
superb trail passes through some of the most attractive scenery either
country has to offer - the gorge of the River Wye, the Black mountains,
the rolling Shropshire Hills and the wild moorland of the Clwydian
Hills.

The
Pembrokeshire Coast Path takes in some of the most spectacular coastal scenery in
Britain. For much of the time the trail keeps to the clifftops, providing
superb views of the cliff, beaches and offshore stacks and islands with
their abundant birdlife. Every turn in the path reveals something different
- a little harbour, an attractive village, a cromlech, fort, church or
chapel of the Celtic saints or a castle built by the Norman invaders.
We have divided the finest stretch of the coast path into two sections
offering a choice of walking tours from 5 days to two weeks.
