Guided walking holidays

In Scotland there are two single centre guided walking holidays:

  • The North West Highlands tours explore one of the last wilderness areas in Europe from a base on the shores of Loch Maree
  • Isle of Skye This tour explores the dramatic scenery of one of the most exciting islands in Scotland.

We also offer guided hiking tours along the West Highland Way. Beginning at Milngavie on the outskirts of Glasgow, this famous trail heads north through spectacular scenery that becomes more rugged with every step, to Fort William in the heart of the Scottish Highlands.

Self-guided walking holidays

We organise self-led hiking tours along the:

  • West Highland Way
  • St Cuthbert's Way  This delightful cross-border trail passes through the peaceful countryside of the Scottish Borders to Holy Island in Northumberland, England's Border County.
  • Great Glen Way This new trail follows the great rift valley of the Great Glen from Fort William on the west coast to Inverness on the east coast.
  • Highland Drovers Trail  This magnificent walk from the Great Glen to the Isle of Skye traces part of a 15th century cattle drovers route across the Western Highlands, through some of the most dramatic mountain and coastal scenery in Scotland.

Lake District
Guided walking holidays

In the Lake District we offer single centre guiding walking holidays in two locations:

  • The North West Lake District tours based in the bustling market town of Keswick explore the valleys and mountains around Derwentwater, Buttermere and Crummock Water.

We offer guided hiking tours along the Coast to Coast Walk and the Cumbria Way.

  • The Coast to Coast Walk traverses the north of England through the Lake District, the Yorkshire Dales and the North York Moors. This famous trail is available in two sections. The dates have been arranged consecutively so that the route can be walked in its entirety with a rest day in the middle or in two separate stages. The western section traverses the Lake District from St Bees on the west coast of the National Park to Kirkby Stephen in the east.
  • The Cumbria Way passes through the heart of the Lake District from Ulverston in the south to Carlisle in the north. Following paths along valleys and old packhorse tracks over passes, this superb trail provides breathtaking mountain views without actually going to any of the summits.
Self-guided walking holidays

Best of Hadrian's Wall These single centre tours explore the best-preserved and most dramatic sections of the Wall. The walks visit milecastles and forts, turrets and temples, signal towers, an old quarry with inscriptions carved by the Roman soldiers that built the wall, and a medieval castle and priory built from stone plundered from the wall.

On Hadrian's Wall Walk we hike along the Wall from Corbridge in the east to Bowness-on-Solway on the west coast, stopping somewhere different each night.

Self-guided walking holidays

We offer a number of options for self-guided walking holidays along Hadrian's Wall

  • The complete trail from Wallsend on the east coast of England to Bowness-on-Solway on the west coast.
  • A shorter option omitting the less-rewarding hiking through Newcastle at the start of the trail and beyond Carlisle at the end.
  • An even shorter alternative that concentrates on the finest stretch of the Wall between Corbridge and Brampton.
  • A series of self-led hikes along the best-preserved section of the wall from a single base. We provide transport to the start of the walk each morning and collect you at the end of each walk.
