Extra nights/Rest days

Holne is an idyllic village. Charles Kingsley, author of The Water Babies and Westward Ho! was born in the vicarage and a window commemorates him in the village church. Widecombe-in-the-Moor is another lovely village with a superb church dating from the 14th century. Don't miss the beautiful painted roodscreen and carved one-eared rabbits above the communion rail. Drewsteignton is a good choice if you would like to explore Castle Drogo, a remarkable castle built by Sir Edward Lutyens between 1910 and 1930. The pretty village of Lynmouth at the junction and estuary of the East and West Lyn rivers is a delightful place to linger.
