Holne is an idyllic village. Charles Kingsley, author of The Water Babies and Westward Ho! was born in the vicarage and a window commemorates him in the village church. Chagford is a pleasing village with a few shops, a good pub, fine church and an interesting little museum in the general store. The pretty village of Lynmouth at the junction and estuary of the East and West Lyn rivers is a delightful place to linger.
