West Highland Way - North to South
A walking holiday along the West Highland Way from Fort William in the North to Milngavie in the South
We also offer these routes from South to North. For more information on walking these routes in the opposite direction, click here.
The West Highland Way (North to South) starts at the foot of Ben Nevis and follows an amazing route of mountainous scenery and some challenging terrain, to Milngavie on the outskirts of Glasgow.
Walking the West Highland Way in reverse provides the most challenging sections at the start of the walk, with the pinnacles of Aonach Eagach serving to introduce you to the stunning mountainous landscape.
With the dramatic peak of Ben Nevis in the background, the route continues past the entrance to Glencoe, a designated National Scenic Area. After crossing Rannoch Moor, the sense of wild desolation begins to ease as the Bridge of Orchy and the village of Crianlarich meet the trail. Soon, the trail passes Inverarnan, where the famous Drover’s Inn provides the perfect opportunity for a traditional Scottish Dram and the shores of Loch Lomond mark the journey from the highlands to the lowlands of Scotland.
Holiday Highlights
- Taking pictures of the iconic Buachaille Etive Mor, easily recognised by its pyramidal shape.
- Watching the wealth of flora and fauna as your cross the wilderness of Rannoch Moor.
- The spectacular views as you look back over Loch Lomond from Conic Hill.
