Bishop's Castle, with its interesting little shops, the House on Crutches Museum of Shropshire Town and Country Life, the Rail and Transport Museum and the Three Tuns Brewery Museum, is a popular choice.
If you are seeking peace and quiet then consider the attractive little town of Clun.
Ludlow, with its superb castle and medieval streets crammed with historic buildings, is another good choice.

By Air – The most convenient major city and international airport is Birmingham International.
By Rail – There is a railway station at the start of the trail (Church Stretton), within walking distance of most accommodations. There is a railway station at the end of the trail (Ludlow), within walking distance of most accommodations.
From London – Trains run regularly between Heathrow or Gatwick Airports and Church Stretton. The train journey from London Euston to Church Stretton takes approximately 3.5 hours. From Ludlow, there are also regular trains to Heathrow and Gatwick Airports. The train journey to London Paddington from Ludlow takes approximately 3.5 hours.
Return to Start - The easiest and quickest way to return to Church Stretton from Ludlow is to take a direct train between the two.
