About the trail

The Peddars Way and Norfolk Coast Path National Trail combines two contrasting paths. The Peddars Way follows the line of a Roman road through pleasant countryside. It enjoys a mix of country lanes, footpaths and tracks through a varied landscape of open heath, woodland, rich farmland and pretty villages.

As the trail reaches the coast, the Norfolk Coast Path takes over, leading the way along a shoreline famed for its remoteness and wild beauty. Part of the England Coast Path, the walk passes through a diverse landscape of sandy beaches, reed beds, tidal inlets and unspoilt villages. Magnificent stately homes, medieval castles and the seal colonies at Blakeney Point all add to the charm of this scenic trail.

We offer multiple holiday options along this trail. If you wish to experience the entire trail, simply select the first option from the list below.

There are lovely settlements to explore along the trail, including seaports, fishing villages and seaside resorts, each boasting their own interesting history and welcoming charm. Wildlife flourishes along the Norfolk coastline, playing host to a wide range of sea creatures and birds. Grey seals can often be seen frolicking around Blakeney Point, a National Nature Reserve dedicated to their conservation.

Your Itinerary

This itinerary lists our preferred overnight stops for this tour. Sometimes there may be a shortage of available accommodation in a preferred location, in which case we will transfer you from the trail to your accommodation and back again at no extra charge. Overnight stops marked with a (T) will always require transfers as standard.

Overnight stops marked with an (L) have very limited accommodation, and therefore more often than not will also require a transfer, particularly on bank holidays and weekends. We will use non-transfer accommodation wherever possible.

The daily mileages quoted are average trail miles only and do not include the distance from the trail to your accommodation. We do not expect you to have to travel more than a mile from the trail to your accommodation in most cases; should your accommodation be further than this, transfers will be provided as standard if practical. A very limited number of stops will require you to travel on foot up to two miles off the trail, however these instances will be clearly communicated to you if applicable.

Further transfers may also be required due to some accommodations having a two-night minimum booking policy, especially at weekends.

Below are the additional costs that may apply depending on your requirements. Dog-friendly tours are subject to a Daily Dog Charge, which will be listed below if applicable. Our standard prices per person are based upon two people sharing a room; if you are on your own, or are part of a group but require a room of your own, then the Solo Traveller or Single Supplements apply respectively:

Customer reviews from the Norfolk Coast Path

“Excellent. All worked well. Variety of accommodation from excellent to just ok. We had everything we needed for a good trip. It all worked smoothly and when I needed to contact Contours emergency number (regarding a taxi pick up) the person sorted the misunderstanding promptly. Surprisingly varied, always interesting walk, with a bit of everything. Beach, sand , shingle, dunes, cliffs, salt marshes, meadows, woodland, villages, urban (although not much) donkeys on the beach... I had not expected it to be the delight it was.”
Ms Hart, UK
“This is my 14th Contours walking holiday and I have enjoyed them all! Easy walking with good company, lovely villages on route, expansive coastal scenery, generally excellent accommodation. This was my 14th Contours holiday, that in itself should be a recommendation!”
Mr Parkinson, UK
“For wildlife enthusiasts, about 90% of this walk falls within nature reserves. So Perfect!”
Mrs Crompton, UK
“Good weather, good beer, good food, good accommodation.”
Mr Baker, Australia
“Very well organised; friendly and helpful staff at Contours. Accommodation mostly excellent.”
Mrs Williams, UK
“We very much enjoyed our holiday and appreciated your willingness to tailor the mileage so that we had time to go off the route.”
Miss Morris, UK
“Wonderful tour through very variable coast landscape.”
Mr Eckardstein, Switzerland
“Very pleasant and easy walking. The first half of the walk through interesting villages and fenland.”
Mr Watson, UK
“It worked well for a disabled person as we needed access to local transport and another member of the group needed the walk to be relatively flat as he has difficulty with too many hills. Great birds and flat landscape if you want an easier walk.”
Ms Steen, UK
