About the trail

During the 8th century, King Offa of Mercia ordered a great dyke to be built to mark the western boundary of his kingdom with Wales. Offa's Dyke Path follows the course of this ancient earthwork from Chepstow to Prestatyn, passing through scenery of great beauty and variety along the way.

The trail visits a succession of historic border towns and attractive villages including Monmouth, Hay-on-Wye and Welshpool. There is also plenty of historic interest along the trail, including Chepstow Castle, the ruin of Tintern Abbey and the imposing stronghold of White Castle, to name just a few.

We offer multiple holiday options along this trail. If you wish to experience the entire trail, simply select the first option from the list below.

Mr Kirkup, UK
“Wonderful to do a day on day long-distance walk again after a break of a few years. Booking with Contours gave us that extra support we needed to feel confident once again of our ability. From start to finish through from our initial enquiry, booking, pre-holiday queries and the actual walking we were really comfortable working with Contours. Relaxed yet very competent accommodating approach works for us. Recommended Contours to everyone!”
Mrs Roberts, UK
“Luggage transfers all worked superbly, all accommodation was of a good standard, and the overall experience was excellent.”
Mr Montgomery, UK
“This walk is up there as one of the best long distance walks! Stunning scenery, a variety of terrain and landscapes. There were some tough sections, particularly from Knighton to Brompton Bridge but all worth it for the sense of achievement at the end of the 177 miles! Loved it and wanted to turn round and walk all the way back to Sedbury cliffs when we got to the end! Would most definitely recommend this holiday to others.”
