An iconic walk across England via the Lake District, Yorkshire Dales and North York Moors.
From £397 per person
Created by Alfred Wainwright, the Coast to Coast Walk crosses the breadth of the North of England from St Bees on the west coast to Robin Hood’s Bay on the east coast. Some of the most varied and beautiful scenery in the country lies ahead, spread over three National Parks.
Wainwright’s Coast to Coast Walk clambers the rugged mountains of the Lake District to earn views over glittering tarns. It winds through the pretty valleys of the Yorkshire Dales and sets out across the expansive heather moorland of the North York Moors. Dramatic coastal scenery waits at the end, with a twisting descent to Robin Hood’s Bay.
The Coast to Coast Walk became a National Trail in March 2026, with new waymarking completed throughout. There’s never been a better time to choose this country-crossing walking holiday and explore the best landscapes of Northern England.

“Richard's help on 11th August in sorting our additional taxi arrangements was very professional.”Mr Wilkinson, UK
“Very challenging but enjoyable for this 65 and 68 year old couple. We really appreciated the work you put in to make for a great experience.”Mr Clement, USA
“Perfect weather which helped us a lot. Some challenges for us but we managed it. This holiday was postponed twice because of covid. As we are now in our 70\'s we were aware that we were 18 months/2 years older than when it was first booked which might have made a difference had the weather been awful. We enjoyed it all. We enjoyed it all. What was best about it was that every single day was different from the days before.”Mrs Cartledge, UK
“Second time with Contours. All arrangements including information pack, map and guide book, luggage transfers and B&B standards excellent.”Mr Matthewman, UK
“We loved it! We had scheduled 18 walking days and four rest days and that was perfect for us. We are both 70 years old and we completed the walk with no injuries, no blisters, and amazingly, NO RAIN. How can that be. We loved it.”Mr Hutchison, USA
“Smooth, simple, well organised and hassle free.”Mrs Mytum, UK
“Thanks for organising this really stunning holiday!!”Mr Darwen, UK
“On 21 September I and my walking partners completed the Coast to Coast walk. It was everything I had hoped it would be. Each day offered a different joy and challenge. Our evenings in the Inns or B&Bs were comfortable and welcoming. The baggage and end of day transfers were positive. The folks we met along the way were a bonus. Cheers and thank you for providing the support for a fabulous holiday.”Mrs Montesanti, USA
“A very nice period without real busy towns and traffic, good way to see the diversity of landscape and people. The start was as expected the hard part because length of track and the weather in the Lake district.”Mr Kingma, Netherlands
