Explore the UK over a long weekend
Our new single-centre mini walking getaways are the perfect ready-to-go gift for an outdoorsy loved one — or a great way to sample one of four stunning regions of the UK yourself!
Unlike our full-length point-to-point holidays, these short, weekend-friendly walks involve two nights and two days of walking from a single central accommodation, so you can really settle in and get to know the area.
1 Arrive at your overnight town for a look around and a good night’s sleep.
2 In the morning, our pre-booked transportation brings you to the start of the trail.
3 Walk along a beautiful route all the way back to your overnight town.
4 Spend another evening exploring your overnight stop and sampling the local cuisine.
5 Walk from the doorstep of your accommodation out onto the trail.
6 At the trail’s end, our transportation brings you back to your accommodation to collect your luggage before departure.
We offer a long, medium and short option for each of these trails. All three holidays follow the same route and take two days to walk, but the reduced-distance options start a little later along the trail and finish a little sooner, so you won't need to surmount the same daily mileage.
This means you can pick the distance that suits your pace and allows you plenty of time to immerse yourself in exploration, add in your own detours, or simply indulge in a few extra tea breaks.

Stow-on-the-Wold Two-Night Walking Break
On this two-day walking tour, you’ll overnight in Stow-on-the-Wold, a historic wool town full of the quintessential honey-stone buildings of the Cotswolds.
In Stow, you can explore a range of independent shops that stock all sorts of local delicacies, crafts and clothing, and explore the historic church and market square. Relax by the fire at the pub in the evening, or try the great food at a range of eateries.
Our Stow-on-the-Wold Two-Night Walking Break covers a gentle section of our Cotswold Round holiday, with three distances to choose from. Pick the longest itinerary and ramble all the way from Chipping Campden to Winchcombe, both beautiful Cotswold towns packed with history and brilliant eateries, or reduce the mileage with our medium or short tours.
All three options enjoy long rambles through patchwork fields and make sure to visit stunning locations like Moreton-in-Marsh, both Upper and Lower Slaughters, and the beautiful riverside town of Bourton-on-the-Water. You’ll get a real taste for the Cotswolds on this short break, all in the space of a weekend.
Windermere Two-Night Walking Break
For your exploration of the world-renowned Lake District UNESCO World Heritage Site, you’ll stay in lakeside Windermere.
This bustling Cumbrian town offers a wide range of independent shops and eateries to explore each evening, alongside The World of Beatrix Potter and the Windermere Jetty Museum. Take the time to wander down to the shore of Lake Windermere and enjoy the sunset over the water.
Inspired by our South Lakes Short Break walking holiday, this two-day walk enjoys astounding views across glittering tarns and the mighty fells of the Lake District. You’ll enjoy opportunities to visit a variety of sights, including Beatrix Potter’s Hill Top House, the Grasmere Gingerbread Shop and Armitt Museum.
Our full-length walk runs all the way from Coniston to Elterwater, with the option to summit the Old Man of Coniston, and it’s trimmed a little shorter for our mid- and low-mileage options. Whichever route you choose, you’ll experience quiet trails along pretty lakes and riversides, with some good climbs to great views across the lakeland hills. It’s a lovely snippet of beautiful Cumbria.
Castleton Two-Night Walking Break
Set right on the seam between the limestone White Peak and the gritstone Dark Peak, Castleton hosts the park’s best visitor centre, which is well worth a look. Spend the rest of your time here exploring the local caverns or seeking out their famous Blue John at a range of jewellers in town.
Don’t forget the independent outdoor shop, too. For meals, there’s a wide array of tea rooms, cafes, pubs and restaurants to choose from.
This two-day walking holiday in the Peak District takes inspiration from our White Peak Way adventures. From an overnight base in Castleton, all three versions of this short break cover two of the most spectacular sections of the White Peak Way, heading through the remote pass at Cave Dale and later clambering up Mam Tor to follow the famous Great Ridge Walk. The views here are phenomenal, promising a rewarding walk that will keep your camera snapping.
Malham Two-Night Walking Break
This single-centre walking mini-break is based in Malham, one of the prettiest villages of the Yorkshire Dales. Enjoy a local pint by the fire at one of the historic pubs here and wander down to Malham Beck to enjoy the views at dusk.
Malham hosts a great visitor centre, too, to give your day’s walk some context. Here, you’ll uncover the geological significance of Malham Cove and Goredale Scar, plus information about the falcons that regularly nest there.
Our Malham Two-Night Break takes in some of the most jaw-dropping parts of the Three Dales Way: the limestone pavement and glacial carving of Malham Cove, rushing waters of Janet Foss, and impressive heights of Gordale Scar. That’s all alongside long rambles beneath an expansive sky in remote Yorkshire, visiting a host of pretty villages along the way.
Our full-length option starts in Conistone and concludes in Burnsall, while our shorter itineraries stick to that sight-filled central section around Malham. Any of the three will provide a fascinating escape into the beautiful Yorkshire Dales National Park: the ideal way to sample the area over a long weekend.
If our two-night breaks are a little too short for you, why not check out these similar yet longer options?
