Offa’s Dyke Path follows the course of an ancient earthwork, spanning 181 miles from Chepstow to Prestatyn. Built by King Offa of Mercia during the 8th century, this great dyke was intended to mark the western boundary of his kingdom with Wales, and it travels through the beautiful and varied scenery of this remote borderland space.
The trail visits a succession of historic border towns and attractive villages, including Monmouth, Hay-on-Wye and Welshpool. There is also plenty of historic interest along the trail, including Chepstow Castle, the ruin of Tintern Abbey and the imposing stronghold of White Castle, to name just a few.
We offer multiple holiday options along this trail. If you wish to experience the entire trail, simply select the first option from the list below.
Dogs are welcome on select routes along this trail. Look for the pawprint icon when choosing your holiday.

“Just completed the Offa’s Dyke Path and overall I had an excellent experience. The path was challenging – and at some places, not well marked, but the scenery and the people we met along the way were all excellent. I always enjoy these holidays – much more so than sitting on a cruise ship.”Mr Ossim, USA
“Compliments to Contours staff for helping out 2 weeks in advance to change our booking and for answering patiently all questions I had. Everything was very complete, the holiday pack, the reservations, the luggage transport, the e-mail contact. Very good service, lots of choice in walking holidays.”Mrs Jans, Netherlands
“The weather was perfect - no rain for 14 days. Yes, it was hot and sunny but so much better than rain. This is my 7th holiday walk with Contour starting with the West Highland Way in the early 2000. Coast to Coast, Cotswold Way, Norfolk, Ireland, Pembrokeshire Path and the Offa's Dyke.”Ms Bernstein, USA
“Wonderful trip, wonderful landscapes, gracious hosts, even great weather.”Mr Wright, USA
“Thank you to Contours Staff for the work and preparation done on our behalf.”Mr Mathias, Canada
