This excellent little walking holiday is perfect for a quick foray into the world-renowned Lake District UNESCO World Heritage Site. We designed this tour as a ready-to-go gift option for a loved one, or as a mini break for yourself; go on, you’ve earned it!

This is a single-centre tour — where you return to the same accommodation both nights — with three mileage options to choose from. Whether you opt for the longest route from Coniston to Elterwater, the mid-length route from Tarn Hows to Grasmere, or the shortest route from Hawkshead to Ambleside, you are sure to have an unforgettable adventure in this iconic National Park.

Windermere Two-Night Break - Short

For those seeking a low daily mileage short break, this option provides 16 walking miles over two days, without skimping on the spectacular scenery on offer in the Lake District.

After spending the first night of your holiday in Windermere, a taxi will collect you from your accommodation in the morning and drop you off at the village of Hawskhead to begin your walk. You will then return to Windermere along quiet footpaths and riversides, visiting such features as Beatrix Potter’s Hill Top Cottage and Claife Viewing Station, to name a few.

Your second walking day will then begin from your accommodation’s doorstep, travelling north through more wonderful scenery before arriving in Ambleside, a popular market town with bags of character and a host of attractions to explore. A taxi transfer will then take you back to Windermere to collect your luggage, signalling the end of this little Lakeland ramble.
