The Yorkshire Wolds Way travels through a tranquil corner of England that has remained largely unchanged for centuries. This landscape of softly rounded chalk hills and flower-filled hedgerows is alive with butterflies, birds, and villages nestled in wooded dells.
Between England’s most famous deserted medieval village at Wharram Percy, views across the Humber Bridge to the towers of Lincoln Cathedral, and the quaint seaside resort of Filey, there’s plenty to catch your attention on this remote, peaceful walking holiday, one of the shortest National Trails.
Crossing the Yorkshire countryside from the foot of the Humber Bridge to the crumbling cliffs of Filey.
Visiting Yorkshire pubs for a well-earned taste of local ale, including the Wold Top Brewery, which sits on the trail near Hunmanby.
Catching a glimpse of the looming North York Moors over the Vale of Pickering.

“It was absolutely wonderful! Besides introducing us to an area of the country neither of us knew, we were impressed by the efficiency of the organisation, logistics and support provided by Contours. Everything worked very smoothly. The materials provided for our walk -- the Harvey's map and waterproof carrying case, route, itinerary and information on each stop were all excellent.”Ms Armstrong, UK
“Scenery much better than I was expecting - quite varied. Every day offered something different.”Mr Parker, UK
“I was pleasantly surprised by the walk; I grew up in West Yorkshire but had no knowledge of this area. The time spent walking each day was ideal. The scenery was lovely and the people were very friendly. We enjoyed very good weather - not a drop of rain on any of the days. The ground was very muddy for the first two-three days and this made it very slippy at times. Some of the paths are shared with horses and bicycles and they had churned up the ground. We had a very good holiday indeed - the taxis and luggage transfers all worked very well. The taxis were very flexible.”Mr Bakes, UK
“I enjoyed the walk across the Yorkshire Wolds very much, especially the glorious broad vistas across the Vale of York and the Vale of Pickering. The support we received from those whose hospitality we enjoyed and those who gave a taxi service to us and our luggage was exceptional. We met nothing but kindness from the people we encountered. For all this I am very grateful, and to the staff at Contours who organised the holiday.”Ms Calderbank, UK
“It is as well organised and all the accommodation was very good.”Dr Smith, UK
“I loved it. A new part of Yorkshire for me and I thought it was beautiful. The way-marking on this route is so good you would have to try quite hard to get lost! I have now been booking with Contours most years since about 2000 and I have always had good service. I tell other walkers I meet how good it is.”Dr Bailey, UK
“Was wonderful, exceeded my expectations. Excellent pre trip communications and support. Very happy with travel pack and accommodation. Excellent value for money.”Ms Glenn, Australia
“Well organised. Very signposted, gentle walk in very pleasant countryside.”Mr Robinson, UK
“Walking was very enjoyable and directions to and from accommodation were clear. Very good accommodation and well posted trail made this an excellent experience. We feel your service has been excellent and your package for walking very informative.”Miss Morton, UK
