The Yorkshire Wolds Way travels through a tranquil corner of England that has remained largely unchanged for centuries. This landscape of softly rounded chalk hills and flower-filled hedgerows is alive with butterflies, birds, and villages nestled in wooded dells.
Between England’s most famous deserted medieval village at Wharram Percy, views across the Humber Bridge to the towers of Lincoln Cathedral, and the quaint seaside resort of Filey, there’s plenty to catch your attention on this remote, peaceful walking holiday, one of the shortest National Trails.
Crossing the Yorkshire countryside from the foot of the Humber Bridge to the crumbling cliffs of Filey.
Visiting Yorkshire pubs for a well-earned taste of local ale, including the Wold Top Brewery, which sits on the trail near Hunmanby.
Catching a glimpse of the looming North York Moors over the Vale of Pickering.

“The whole experience was one we thoroughly enjoyed and the Contours arrangements too away all the hassle associated with organising such a walking holiday. The walking maps, detailed instructions, accommodation arrangements and general travel information all helped to enrich the experience and enabled us to concentrate on enjoying the walk.”Mr Callister, Australia
“I was pleasantly surprised by the walk; I grew up in West Yorkshire but had no knowledge of this area. The time spent walking each day was ideal. The scenery was lovely and the people were very friendly. We enjoyed very good weather - not a drop of rain on any of the days. The ground was very muddy for the first two-three days and this made it very slippy at times. Some of the paths are shared with horses and bicycles and they had churned up the ground. We had a very good holiday indeed - the taxis and luggage transfers all worked very well. The taxis were very flexible.”Mr Bakes, UK
“Was wonderful, exceeded my expectations. Excellent pre trip communications and support. Very happy with travel pack and accommodation. Excellent value for money.”Ms Glenn, Australia
“I enjoyed every step of the way.”Ms Cressey, UK
“Well organised. Very signposted, gentle walk in very pleasant countryside.”Mr Robinson, UK
“We really enjoyed walking this route, especially as the scenery is markedly different to the North Yorkshire Moors where we live, and the travel arrangements worked very well. All in all, a most enjoyable 5 days.”Mrs Walkley, UK
“It is as well organised and all the accommodation was very good.”Dr Smith, UK
