The Yorkshire Wolds Way travels through a tranquil corner of England that has remained largely unchanged for centuries. This landscape of softly rounded chalk hills and flower-filled hedgerows is alive with butterflies, birds, and villages nestled in wooded dells.
Between England’s most famous deserted medieval village at Wharram Percy, views across the Humber Bridge to the towers of Lincoln Cathedral, and the quaint seaside resort of Filey, there’s plenty to catch your attention on this remote, peaceful walking holiday, one of the shortest National Trails.
Crossing the Yorkshire countryside from the foot of the Humber Bridge to the crumbling cliffs of Filey.
Visiting Yorkshire pubs for a well-earned taste of local ale, including the Wold Top Brewery, which sits on the trail near Hunmanby.
Catching a glimpse of the looming North York Moors over the Vale of Pickering.

“Well organised. Very signposted, gentle walk in very pleasant countryside.”Mr Robinson, UK
“I loved it. A new part of Yorkshire for me and I thought it was beautiful. The way-marking on this route is so good you would have to try quite hard to get lost! I have now been booking with Contours most years since about 2000 and I have always had good service. I tell other walkers I meet how good it is.”Dr Bailey, UK
“Thoroughly enjoyable walk in beautiful well kept countryside. To be recommended.”Mr Collings, UK
“Quiet solitude in a unique area of dry chalk valleys with extensive long distance views.”Mr Ward, UK
“I enjoyed the walk across the Yorkshire Wolds very much, especially the glorious broad vistas across the Vale of York and the Vale of Pickering. The support we received from those whose hospitality we enjoyed and those who gave a taxi service to us and our luggage was exceptional. We met nothing but kindness from the people we encountered. For all this I am very grateful, and to the staff at Contours who organised the holiday.”Ms Calderbank, UK
“An interesting & generally quite varied route, different from what I'd normally choose to walk, well way marked, mostly excellent accommodation. Possibly the best waymarked route I've walked.”Mrs Jackson, UK
“It is as well organised and all the accommodation was very good.”Dr Smith, UK
“The weather helped and all the accommodation was very good and friendly. Everything was well organised from B&Bs to taxi pickups. We enjoyed it so, hopefully, others would too. We have had or been involved in several holidays through Contours and would come back time and time again.”Mr Calvert, UK
“Very enjoyable. The heart of the Wolds, Goodmanhope to Thixendale just wonderful. The Wolds are very different to any other part of the country I have been too. Well worth a visit.”Mr Holloway, UK
