Cateran Trail

Explore the glens and hillsides of an unspoilt corner of Scotland, nestled at the foot of the Grampian Mountains. The Cateran Trail circles through Perthshire’s Blairgowrie, Kirkmichael and Alyth, exploring an enchanting mix of rounded green hills, heather-clad mountains, fast-flowing rivers, impressive waterfalls and deciduous woodland.

It was across these beautiful landscapes that the Highland caterans once roamed, pillaging and cattle-rustling as they went, and it’s from these brigands that the trail takes its name. As a result, there is also plenty of history to uncover along the way, particularly within the area's many welcoming towns and villages.
